Abstract

Patent rights and their utility in research and development are discussed. Up-to-date specialized knowledge goes far beyond text-book knowledge and helps to avoid expensive double development. Appropriate searches can be undertaken in both free databases and those subject to charge. Trademark law is also discussed with advice on the available search options.
